"Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate."
Psalm 127:3-5

Monumental

Monumental
Last Tuesday, our family went to see “Monumental” live at our local theater.  What an incredible movie that clearly demonstrated America’s roots.  Having visited Plymouth for the first time last fall, we were familiar with the Forefather’s Monument.  This monument is one of the most important monuments in America because it clearly gives us the “recipe” for true liberty and freedom, which can only be found if we build our lives and families on the Word of God.

Faith is the top statue.  She is pointing to heaven and holding a well-used Geneva Bible.  She is also endowed with a star of wisdom on her head.

Morality has unseeing eyes because she begins in the heart.  Morality that only controls the outward behavior is not true morality, only outward appearances.  She holds the ten commandments and wears a breastplate.

This monument is huge!

Here is Education.
A nations greatness should be determined by what and how the next generation is brought up.  This monument stresses the need for children to be taught by their parents and by the elders in the community.  I didn’t get a picture of it, but the small statue on the other side of Education is of an older man with a Bible on his right and a globe on his left.  Our elders have the very important responsibility of teaching the next generation the way they should go.  As Marshall Foster said in “Monumental,” we are in a “relay race.”  If we finish but don’t pass the baton, all our efforts were in vain.
I think one of the greatest things I realized and will remember from this movie is the great need to persevere like the Pilgrims.  It must have seemed like God was closing doors left and right.  They must have wondered if this was really what God wanted them to do.  If so, why did He make it so hard?  Living a true Christian life is not easy, in fact, it is strenuous; just ask the Pilgrims.  No matter how different we may feel, or how tough, unproductive, and insignificant our work may seem, God has a plan.  God can use our tinkering to accomplish great and glorious things for His Kingdom, just as He did with the Pilgrims.
Now, it is our job to return to America’s foundation; the Bible.  It is time to open it up and discover how we should live EVERY aspect of our lives.  It is time to ask ourselves hard questions like “Do I really think like a Christian or am I just living according to the world and its agenda for me and my family?”
It is time to get to work and persevere!
If “Monumental” comes to your area, we would recommend it.  Just as a note, the music is not what our family enjoys, a bit loud and worldly at times.
“And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee, and shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.”
Deuteronomy 30:1-2
